While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
I have been reading the materials on the Astrodesigns site and others about
the dollys that others have made to move their LX200's around. I just
wanted to ask what about the effect on the RA bearings is when you tilt the
dolly by 30 degrees. Most of the designs seem to support the base of the
scope, but not the forks. It seems that as you tilt the dolly to move, more
and more pressure will build up on the portion of the RA bearings and races
closest to the dolly. Is this a problem over time? I have to move my scope
a minimum of 150 feet to get to the normal observing area near my apartment.
I will have to go over some curbs. So is this what all these dolly's are
designed for?
