While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I was talking to Ozzi just a few weeks back when I had problems, and he
claimed the repair was $500 for the electronics, I had to remove everything,
and send back, he advised they would repair and return the same
equipment!!! Maybe I should call them back an get the correct price. (That
was US of course, works out to about $800 here in Canada......)

Carl,

Meade offers two types of repairs. The repair which is right for you
depends on your problem or problems.

(1) $200 repair. You remove the following components from your LX200
(mother board, daughter board, RA drive, DEC drive, keypad and all cords)
and mail them to Meade. Meade will provide detailed instruction on which
parts to remove, how to remove them and how to pack/mail to factory.

You will usually get everything back, completely checked, tested and
repaired within 4 weeks. This option will cost $200 + mailing to
Meade...everything will be mailed back to you at Meade's expense.

(2) $500 repair. This option is used when your problems are more than just
electronic in nature. In this case, you send the OTA/Fork back to Meade for
complete overhaul. Here is what Meade will do: Check and repair/replace
electronics. Check and clean optics. (If optics require replacement, you
will be notified and billed extra) Check and repair/replace any mechanical
problems. Turn around time is about 4 weeks.

You are responsible for shipping the scope to Meade...shipping back to you
is covered. This is the _only_ repair which is covered with a
warranty...the $200 option is not.

Hope this helps.

Al
