While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
Hi there,
I read the Mapug info page and saw that a simple
guiding controller can be made and used from the CCD
port on the lx200 power panel.
My question is: while using such a controller, is it
safe to press on of the direction buttons while the
scope is slewing?
I've noticed that when the scope (16"lx200) is being
operated from the Guide7.0 softwere, and is slewing,
it can be stopped with a short press on one of the
direction keys of the hand controller. If this is the
same as with the home-made controller from the CCD
port, it can be used to stop the scope from an
un-controlled slewing (ie into the fork base...). I
was thinking about adding an"emergency stop botton" to
our 16" so that we'll be able to stop it more easly
than with the original hand controller.
At first I was thinking of adding a switch to the
scope power supply so that a press will result in a
shut down. but I believe its not very healthy for the
scope...
Any comments\replys will be greatly appriciated
Assaf B.
