While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book

I have seen many posts about runaway motor problems with the LX-200. Now I
wish I had paid more attention. I noticed a few weeks ago that my RA motor
seemed to be running slow. I called Meade and they suggested that I check
the motor lubrication. While I was poking around, I took off a few
components (including the main board) and generally looked around "behind
the scenes". The lubrication was OK, so I put everything back together. Now
when I power up, the RA and Dec motors start and won't stop. The keypad
displays "Meade" but otherwise is not functional. I have re-traced my
assembly steps carefully, and I can't see what I have done incorrectly. All
the connections seem tight and I don't have any spare parts leftover. I just
read Bruce Johnston's new page, but I'm hoping that someone might have a
simple fix. By the way, even though the RA motor won't stop, it still seems
slow. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Ricardo
