While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Back when I was a lad, it seem that the standard for a telescope was a 1/4
wavelength tolerance on the mirror. If we were good, we had 1/10 wavelength
optics. I understand that another measure of good optics is the percent of
light that is in the central part of the Airy disk ( e.g. 80% in the central
disk, 10% in the first ring, etc. ).

For the Meade telescope I have not read that it boasts of its optics either
in terms of wavelength or in terms of the Airy disk. Does anyone know why??
What are the current standards and how does the Meade telescope compare?

I wrote this same message to Meade about a year ago, but it must be a low
priority item for them to respond to.

Right. I've only seen hints of it once or twice ever with my 12"
LX200. (And yes, it is pretty well collimated. :-)
