Hi everyone!
I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having with my 8" LX200 scope. I've added the Meade dew shield, and also the electric focuser. Now I can't get the scope balanced no matter what I try. I added the Losmandy counterweight system on the underside of the tube and can get it to balance in a horizontal position, but once I raise the scope in declination it becomes unbalanced. What am I doing wrong? Does anyone else have this problem? Am I wrong in assuming that the scope has to be balanced in all Dec angles in order for the "GOTO" and tracking to work properly? Am I supposed to lock the Dec control before using the GOTO function???!!! (that doesn't seem right). At some point in the future I plan on adding a CCD camera to the scope, and I dread the thought of how I'm ever going to balance the whole thing. HELP!
