Hi Frank,
If money is a none issue with you, one of those expensive mounts would make
you very happy. However, if you want a very good, solid mount...one which
would allow you to later use with a larger OTA, while, at the same time save
MUCH money, the Celestron CI700 begs for your consideration.
I own one of these mounts/tripods and use it with my C-14. I find the mount
to be very solid, very reliable and very accurate. This mount compares very
favorably with the G-11...in some areas, it is superior! You can buy one of
these mounts new for $1,500...you can save up to $500 by buying used. The
final surprise is that there is no waiting...you can get immediate delivery
from most dealers.
I've made some modifications to my CI700 with makes it even more user
friendly. I've documented these mods and invite you to read same. Go to
http://www.cloudynights.com When you get there, select mounts and scroll
down to CI700 modifications.
