While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I've just installed a JMI NGF-S focuser (used) , on my 10" LX 200, it
installed and works properly despite the instructions trailing the focuser
in the mail. I read Doc's review but cannot determine if the primary mirror
should be locked down or not. Can anyone assist?

Also I tried the 2" diagonal from my TV Pronto vs. the Meade 2" diagonal and
noticed a strange result.

Although the JMI was installed, I was using the LX200 focuser for coarse
focus, and did not get the image shift I was originally trying to correct
while the TV diagonal was in place, upon re-installing the Meade diagonal
the image shift was even more pronounced than ever. The image shift is of
course just at focus point. I noticed the TV diagonal moves that focus
point on the primary slightly. I'm wondering if its a grease related
problem. At the focus point with the Meade diagonal the focus knob becomes
very easy to turn, really frees up then builds resistance again. I've
previously removed the factory focus mechanism and followed Scott Roberts
instructions for Meade's fix. Does anyone have ideas or encountered this
problem before?
Regards,
Don Holcombe
