Hi Phillip, sounds like you reversed the polarity during your battery
hook up. The bad news is you may have fried your motherboard and will
have to send the base back to Meade for repairs.The good news is
you will never make that mistake again, take it from me i made that
mistake not once but twice.

No, I don't see how I could have reversed the polarity. I used the supplied
power cord to connect through my cigarette lighter. Besides the drives turned
the correct direction, and it works when I first turn it on. I'm planning to
buy some fresh batteries tonight and see what happens. Anyone have any other
ideas? Suggestions to try? Tests to run?
