This is the method I used most often. But it seems unless I use two stars, the
computer can be confused. I had an LX200 before so I adopted the two star method
and it seemed to work. I will have to try variations and test the procedures
again to find out if one star will work. For photography, I don't think the polar
scope is good enough. There may be some flex in the mount that requires optical
alignment through the scope. I installed the polar scope just for this purpose.
It does work well for a quick alignment, so I think it is worth it, (especially if
you move the scope from place to place alot).

I have a very old version of the software. My software is version 2.5, and my
hand controller reads LX200 at boot up. It must have been one of the very first
releases. But it works great. With the new release of the 64k database for the
LXD650 mount, I will probably upgrade as soon as I can part with the mount for a
few months.
