While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book

Maybe us astronomers need a constitutional amendment guaranteeing the
inalienable right to keep and aim telescopes at DARK skies.

Your problem is that you were too scientific. Here in Texas
we just shoot them out. It is a lot harder to trace than a laser
beam.

Cutting of the power arises questions with the maintance people so shooting
them with a sling-shot and a heavy bolt is the easiest solution.

If anybody is trying
to tell me that an amateur astronomer who temporarily turns off a
streetlight in a residential neighborhood with a laser so he/she can see the
sky is some kind of criminal

So if I understand all of you correctly, any act is justified as long as it
is necessary to achieve what you, as an individual, personally want, and laws
are made to be broken, if they stand in the way of what you want to do. There
is a guy who is sitting in jail in the Netherlands awaiting trial who thinks
exactly the same way. His name is Milosovec.
What ever happened to the concept of the rule of law and effecting change by
working within the political and legal system.
I looked up the definition of malicious: given to, marked by, or arising
from malice.
malice: intent to commit an unlawful act or cause harm without legal
justification or excuse.
I say good for the Maryland judge.

Please note: I have added O.T. to the subject line of this thread. It is most
definitely straying far from Meade Advanced Telescopes.
