Thanks to Bruce J. for his reply to my first question
about the fork alignment procedure on MAPUG.
My next question is this: When you mark the center
point, and draw the vertical line perpendicular to the
horizontal line. What is the best way to draw the
perpendicular line? How much does the error of that
line contribute to adjustments of the forks? I used
a sqare to draw a line and then used a level, and got
two slightly different lines (5mm at the ends). With
the level, just a slight turn can have much larger
errors at the ends of a 3 foot line.
How precisely perpendicular does the line need to be?
Any hints for making sure the line is truly
perpendicular?
I know the fork adjustments need to be to fractions
of a mm.
John
