While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

hi all!

I own a 12" LX200 and want to use at least 2" of the full 3" opening of the
rear cell by replacing the standard schmidt thread adapter by an appropriate
backplate or connecting tube.
Now, which metod is best? Using a back plate (JMI, Optec) and a seperate
connecting tube, as Dr. Greiner suggests in one of his articles, or somthing
like the "eyeopener" (I don't know how such an adapter is called in
English), which includes the setscrews to keep sth. in place.
Then when this is done, the star diagonal coming with the scope (collar nut
type) cannot be used anymore. Is it possible to interchange just the collar
type barrel with the simple barrel tube of the other 2" diagonal from Meade?
Or do I have to purchase a completely new one?

thanks for any response to come.

Peter Dietrich
