Hi Kevin,
We hear about these price differences often - it's totally ridiculous that
amateurs in the UK and on the continent should be gouged this way! I've often
wondered why no company in the UK has stepped in to manufacture a comparable
product. The profit potential would certainly be there, even though economies
of scale would still favor Meade when it comes to pricing. Perhaps the UK
domestic market for scopes is not large enough to support such an endeavor? I
know that your skies, on average, are much cloudier than most of those in the
US. But we certainly read lots of fine observation reports from all over the
UK.
