Yes. Being in a humid environment leads to just about everything rusting <g>.
First of all, make sure everything dries out completely after a night's activity.
I do this by leaving the equipment out in the morning sun whenever possible,
and follow up with a day unpacked inside an air-conditioned room.

Personally I wipe my equipment down with a rag and a light grade machine oil.
But if you store things laying down on the carpet or carry it inside your
vehicle the stains may bother you <g>. An alternative is to wax all the
metal parts. Liquid Turtle Wax works just as well on your tripod legs as
it does on turtles. Unfortunately this doesn't do anything about existing
corrosion, but will help prevent future attacks.

I've also advocated replacing as much of the bolts as possible with stainless
steel units.
