I agree, there's certainly a market for a manufacturer that could build "Meade
LX compatible" products in Europe.
Transport and services costs as well as taxes would then decrease the scope
cost for all Western europe astronomers,
and many more products could be sold.
Other high quality scopes manufacturers exist in France but build Scopes on
request and at another price...

We hear about these price differences often - it's totally ridiculous t=

wondered why no company in the UK has stepped in to manufacture a compa=

product. The profit potential would certainly be there, even though eco=
nomies
of scale would still favor Meade when it comes to pricing. Perhaps the =

domestic market for scopes is not large enough to support such an endea=
vor? I
know that your skies, on average, are much cloudier than most of those =
in the
US. But we certainly read lots of fine observation reports from all ove=
r the
UK.
