While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

In a message dated 8/13/01 6:46:14 PM Eastern Daylight Time,

<< am glad your NGF-S modification worked as promised.
I also requested, and received, the mod but after reading the
instructions I decided not to apply it. First of all, the tube
was painted shiny black, not flat. Second of all, it is very bad
procedure to glue any anodized aluminum part to another.
I think I will wait till they come out with a one piece solution.

Chris,

I may have missed a message or two here, but for your general information, I
called them a couple of weeks ago about the mod, and the gal told me that an
updated batch would be done in two days, and that it would be worth the wait.

That I received was a one piece unit. The unit had threads on it to be
screwed on in place of the ring that is screwed on to the back of the OTA.
(Where the three set screws screw into). It had as a part of it, a sleeve
that was maybe three inches long that extended from the OTA end of the unit,
into the NGF-S, past the place where the light leak crack is. Still, it was
a one piece unit and seems to do the job fine. Nothing to glue or anything.

I agree that it was too shiny, so I just sprayed the inside quickly with somf
ultra flat black paint and put it in place. Been working fine ever since.

Again, this is just an FYI.
