Since my PEC training is lost nearly every time I power off my scope, I've
had lots of experience lately with PEC training with my CCD. I've tried
exposures from .01 to 2 seconds and a variety of focal lengths. Everything
seems to work fine for me. I have a 10" f/6.3 scope and I currently train
PEC with a 3.3 reducer connected and I use a 1 or 2 second exposure. At
first I reconfigured the scope so that I could train PEC with a longer focal
length than I was going to shoot for the night, but I found in my experience
that this wasn't necessary. Here's an image from last night (full moon). I
trained PEC once, with 1 second exposures. This is a combination of 78 - 60
second images:
