While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book

Hi Harold,
YES, east-west (left-right) drifts are the PE of your drive. They have
NO relevance when doing a star-drift alignment: you should only
consider the north-south (up-down) drifts.
Hope this helps.

Bostjan

But, I did have some right and left movement which I wasn't
expecting. After a couple of minutes, I would find that both the
southern and western stars drifted slightly to the right in the field
of view. After a couple of more minutes, whichever star I was looking
at had drifted pretty much back into the center of the field of view.
Here's my question. Is the left and right movement of the stars due to
periodic error in my RA drive?
>From my limited knowledge, that's what I'm guessing and hoping for. My
next project will be to get my scope periodic error trained. I'd be
real pleased to find out that was all I have left to do have excellent
tracking.
Thanks,
Harold Williams
