While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I'm trying to decide between either an SBIG ST-8E or an Apogee AP47p CCD for my
12" LX200 and I'm looking for comments. On paper the AP47p appears to be the
superior CCD with QE peaking around 92%. I also think its 13u pixel is
slightly better matched for my 12" Lx200 at f/6.3 than the 8E's 9um. Also
because of the larger pixel its total FOV is slightly larger. The problem is
that I've been unable to really find any user comments on the AP47p or photos
because I guess it's so new. Any one out there using one with an lx200? I
would love to here some comments and links to photos. From what I see the only
advantages the 8E has is a large user base/proven performance, built-in guide
chip, and immediate availability. The prices are now the same ($6000) and the
AP47p includes Maxim DL/CCD. I'm not too concerned about losing the built-in
guider and would prefer a higher QE and shorter exposures to built-in guiding.

So any AP47p users out there?

Thanks,
John Teel
