While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I haven't done the math, but I suspect that for a Mettler wedge, this isn't a linear function. The Mettler wedge uses turnbuckles to adjust the angle of the platform, so the geometry of the triangle constantly changes. A linear change in the length of one side will produce a non-linear change in the opposite angle.
