While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Hello all
I find the best way to center the sun is to make your own finder .......!
A piece of ply / thin metal mounted to your OTA length wise, about 1 inch
wide,
then two pieces of ply / metal 1 inch high at 90 degrees mounted anywhere
along it as long as they are about 5 inches apart, drill a 3/32 hole about a
1/3 of the way down on the front piece ( sun end )............this will
place / project a tiny dot of light onto the other end ............center
the scope the hard way using the suns image on the ground and when this is
done place a ink mark / dot mark on the ply where the suns image is
projected.
Next time you want to view the Sun just slew untill the dots are imposed on
each other....EASY
It wont get in the way or weigh much at all........and cost next to nothing.
