I had a case where the dec motor would stop after a while and would not move again. After taking the scope down and into the light, I noticed that somehow the shaft for the Dec knob got bent where the knob was rubbibg on the fork arm, hence stopping the motor. After moving the knob further up the shaft, the motor functioned again, though the knob gives the appearance of wobbling (the shaft being bent).
