While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Cheers Matt,

Couldn't reply to you privately, and your site, though good, lacks an
email addy.

Igor,

I use the original version of the ST2000XM (KAI-2000M sensor with
TC-211 guider). SBIG has since moved to the KAI-2001M sensor
(better QE) and the TC-237 guider (larger then TC-211).

I believe it is a great camera. You can see my results with my 10"
LX200 f/10 and a Stellarvue SV80S (80mm f/6) refractor on my web
page below.

Surprisingly, the QE of the ST2000XM (with KAI-2001M) is almost the
same as the CCD in the NABG version of the ST-8XE. The ST-8XE is
more sensitive in the red portion of the spectrum, while the
ST2000XM is more sensitive in the blue portion of the spectrum.

The only word of caution is to take special consideration in the
color filters you choose (if you are getting any). The standard
SBIG red filter is narrow to attempt to avoid light pollution in the
600nm region. This is a big hit to the ST2000XM because of its
reduced red sensitivity. Filters from IDAS/Hutech have a much
larger red band-pass that allows for better weighting of the red
color channels. However, I have been using the SBIG filters without
much problems - just have to make sure to expose the red filter long
enough.

Hope all this helps, and feel free to contact me privately if you
have any other questions.
