Trevor,
Is there any other laptop you could use to verify if it is the scope or the RS232 on your laptop. A couple of years ago I was running my LX200 10" with my laptop one minute it was running the scope fine and the next minute it we dead. Found the RS232 died in my laptop. How do you like TheSky level V. I have level III, level IV and maybe get level V in the near future. I am running my scope on level III. Don't see any reason to upgrade to a different level.
Barre
LX200 16".... I used to control the scope using The Sky level V. Then there
were were some mechanical repairs made to the scope which involved removing
the complete works. Afterwards, I tried reconnecting using the same RS232
port and a DB9 plug into a computer. Dead.
After checking the cable for continuity, choosing different ports, the port
speed, and trying a laptop as well with the same cable (which used to
work), and making sure the scope was turned on, there is still no response.
The scope works very well by itself...everything is OK
Inside the panel, I checked the 'daughter board (?) plugs to the panel for
connectivity. All is OK
Can anyone suggest anything else I can try? I really don't want to unship
the whole OTA and froks to check the motherboard plugs unless I have to. (I
am physically unable to do this alone...)
Any suggestions would be gratefully received!
I want limit the scope from slewing to some trees behind the
observatory...the LX200 doesn't appear to have this possibility. The Sky has.
I checked the Mapug Archive...no luck.
Thanks in advance!
