While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
Ted;
Here's a link that gives all the info on it. If you click on the pic it'll
show the measurement scales it has. It works fine, long as you remember to
reverse one of the batteries when you stow it away or risk accidently
turning it on and draining the batteries...as I learned the hard way. It has
a pair of almost brand new batteries. The dimmer control works really
well..from just bright enough to barely see the scales and cross hair..to
bright enough to read the scales during the day.
I've pretty much used it only for alignment up till now, and measured
separation on a couple double stars, but I find I am heading into
astrophotograpy and I think the 9mm would be better for me to use for
guiding, till I can afford a ccd autoguider, especially with the longer
exposures draining batteries in the one I have now. I already have the 909
APM so power is available for the reticle.

Bradley, I will wait until Wednesday for an answer and then get back to
you with an address. I am heading to Florida for a month on Thursday,
so I will have you send it to a Florida address, and I will take the
other lamp with me so that I can send it to you when I get there. How
does the battery powered unit work? Do the batteries last? I do not
use my 9mm ep often, so my experiences with the unit have been fine. Of
course, I am assuming that the illuminators for the 9mm and the 12 mm
are the same. If not, I assume that we can trade back.
Regards,
Ted
