Cliff, contrary to what Randy has said and each to their own, I have used 3mm Teflon for the last 4 years successfully, with no distortion. Teflon is used a fair bit in the pharmaceutical industry and its properties only seem to change somewhat under extreme temperatures when autoclaved and it works fine for this application. I have no wish to start another free for all on this but I am sure there are other produts that are suitable, with Teflon there is no need to use grease either.

Cliff,

I first tried the HDPE bucket bottom but the HDPE is not very slippery.
A thin coating of grease makes HDPE work better. Sheet teflon is too
soft. I have been using UHMW polyethylene for a couple of years and
also made and sold some bearings to other wedge users; they have liked
the UHMW bearings.
