IRELAND or ICELAND??

Following my planetarium software PERSEUS there is no astronomical night =
(i.e. the Sun never goes under -18=B0 from the horizon) from April 8th =
to September 1st (at the latitude of Reykjawik, ICELAND). In mid-June =
the Sun goes only about -1=B0 from the horizon at "astronomical =
midnight", leaving the sky bright enough, in MHO, to play golf. In other =
words, you see no stars AT ALL for several months.

On the other hand, in December, they have some 13-hours astronomical =
nights. For comparison, the longest night you have at the latitude of =
New York City is just a little bit more than 11 hours.

In Dublin (IRELAND) the Sun goes about -11=B0 at midnight in mid-June. =
Dark enough to use the telescope. Too dark to play golf.

After all, since I can't move to Arizona on New Mexico, I prefer to live =
in mid-latitudes.... ;-))

PS Perseus is available also in english. Download the demo from =
www.perseus.it, you'll like it.

Hello: I was just watching a little golf on TV, They were playing in =
Ireland. They were playing golf at Midnight, and on into the next day!! =
When daylight came, It just got brighter.=20

Can Astronomers in Iceland see the Stars during the night time, even =
with It been so bright at night that the people can play Golf all night =
long!=20

Or do they have to wait a few months for the season to end.
Just wondering! Later
Osca
