While you're here, how about checking out the

Actually, the double sided tape works fairly well. I have mounted =
several RoboFocus units this way. However I have to agree with you =
that the double sided tape is only a short step above duct tape. A =
rather simplistic if versatile mounting method. But the ability to =
adjust the tension on the belt is poor.
You can in fact remove a number of the screws on the back plate just so =
long as you so not take them all out at one time. Then you scope falls =
apart. (G) It would be very nice to see a bracket made for mounting =
the RoboFocus units. I am not sure you could make a product out of it =
because there are so many sizes required. Perhaps a two part unit with =
a part like the Losmandy adapter piece which fits on the curvature of =
the scope and then a single plate that fits that would work.
I think many would like to have a nice mounting bracket with some =
ability to adjust the tension of the belt to get it just right would be =
very nice.

Subject: [M]: Robofocus bracket
I just ordered a new Robofocus, I'm not crazy about the way it is =
mounted to the scope, with double sided tape. Since I have access to a =
machine shop I was thinking about making a steel/aluminum bracket that =
would mount to the scope then attach the focuser to this bracket. I =
have a 10" LX200 Classic, around the outer perimeter at the base of the =
Optical Tube, in the black band, are small allen head black bolts. I =
was going to pull a couple of them out mount the bracket then put longer =
bolts back in. What do these bolts do? Has anyone mounted a Robofocus =
using a bracket or by some other means other than the tape?
Thank You
Frank
