It sounds like 6.8uF 25v.
(685 = 6800000pF).
If it is the capacitor I am thinking of (which is 6.8uF), then it should be
labelled at 'C1' on the board silk-screen.
Are you dead sure that your power supply voltage was OK?. Though parts do
fail with age sometimes, a capacitor 'burning out', is more likely to be the
result of something else with a problem. I'd check that the incoming supply
voltage is reasonable, before trying a simple replacement (and ideally power
the scope up using a current limited bench power supply the first time).
