While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
Hi Leon,
Last summer temperature went up to 65°C outside under the Sun in Paris
suburbs. My LX200 optics were protected with an aluminium survival sheet
but not the base. It seems that this made the special transparent glue
holding the led assembly on the RA motors (see the place where 4 wires
arrive) detach from the aluminium. Then the mount made a bad noise, base
leds were jumping to high values about 1/sec and mount lost tracking
ability. After posting here my difficulties, I made many carefull trials
to no avail. The time I received a new and expensive replacement RA
motor unit, all my Mars picture had been done with motors only working
at speed 2 or more. About 50% of the frames where moved and unusable ...
of course now everything's Ok !
I the suggest keeping the LX200 at temperature much less than that to
minimize the occurence of this problem !
Hope this helps !
Regards,
Sylvain
