While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Wait a sec.
Maybe that's why I've been having so much trouble.
I have the GPS model and have a heck of a time polar aligning the scope =
also.
The way I've been doing it starts off with me under the scope trying to =
look through the upside down finderscope to try and adjust the wedge. =
(This is the part that hurts.)
I'm I correct?

Have you tried doing everything from the HA 0; Dec 90 position at =
start up?
My method has always been to mechanically set the scope to HA0 and Dec =
90
with the wedge aligned as close to the pole as I can. I boot the scope =
and
go to Polar Align. It says to set the scope to HA0 and Dec90 then =
press
Enter. The scope slews to where Polaris should be. At this time, you =
will
use the wedge to center Polaris. When you have done so, hit Enter and =
the
scope will slew to an alignment star.
Just had a thought. Sorry, I joined the thread late. You are using an =
LX200
Classic? If so, in the initial set-up of HA 0 and Dec 90, in step 1 =
above
the finder scope will be on the ground side of the scope.
