While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
Well I just got in from what passes as a clear night around here in April. I
got a chance to play some more with my 201. It seems it still has problems
with trailing in RA. There may be problems in dec as well but I'm reasonably
polar aligned so I don't see it. I have now tried exposures ranging from 0.1
seconds to 5 seconds and the problem persists. Tonight I was looking through
the main scope while a guide scope was equipped with the 201. What I saw was
a slow (about 4 second) oscillation in RA, where the star viewed in the main
scope would move east then back to its starting point. I also tried longer
calibration times, up to 5 seconds, with no difference. The only thing I
have left to try (aside from a SBIG guider) is a longer focal length on the
guide scope. I'm guiding with 900 mm focal length. Does anyone on the group
have experience using shorter focal lengths when using a 201XT?
