While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Perfectly normal, you just weren't paying attention for the past four years
;)
I think it's actually done deliberately, to add some hi tech gee whiz effect
to the start up process. I also use a Meade Starfinder Newtonian with
Magellan II, which is a basic version of the LX200 controller, and the
lights on the speed setting buttons blink sequentially a few times over,
much flashier than the LX200 controller!
