I gree with Doc. Optically they are dead even. I've side-by-side
compared the 8 inch models with the same eyepieces and the views are the
same. Both have excellent optics. Meade has more features, but as you go
up in size, especially in the 14 inch models, the Celestrons are easier
to handle and set up for one person. For example, the 14 inch LX200 is a
too heavy for one person to safely handle during setup. Whereas last
Friday night I watched a fellow member of my astronomy club setup his 14
inch Celestron CGE by himself with no difficulty. That is where the
Celestrons have the advantage.
