While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Hi...

It could be as simple as a loosened connector in the
base or the left fork (the one with the GPS lump)

Although it's a royal pain to do so, you can dismount
the telescope, open the base (and fork) and look for
a loose connector (i guess i'd start with the fork,
but it's usually the base.)

These cables sometimes (not "frequently", but not overly
"rarely", either) disconnect due to shipping shocks,
or due to having their cables pulled due to overrotation
(such as when travel limits shear) or by the central
mounting screw "nut" coming free and tugging on them.

good luck

p.s. and i'm truly saddened to hear of Doc G
becoming fed up with Meade.. both that he's had
that level of agony and frustration and that Meade
-generated- such levels. Good luck, Doc.
Happier skies!
