well all i can say is you have to love meades customer =
relations..............if you havnt done so yet try calling again and =
ask to talk to a supervisor or some one that actually knows what they =
are talking about...maybe they can tell you how to remove the gps sensor =
from the casting....if they wont tell you and still insist on shipping =
the scope back to them insist they cover the shipping costs for =
something they should have fixed right in the first place....john piper =
is 1 of the main supervisors there and is very familiar with the =
workings of the scope try talking to him....last effort is letting them =
know if you dont get satisifaction you will contact an attorney and the =
california bbb about this matter..maybe this will wake them up a =
bit........i wish you the best of luck in this matter as ive tried =
writing them letters about a pictor repair they did and didnt return my =
pictor 201 auto guider.... i was told i was bascially SOL because they =
have no record of the repair because they didnt keep old records from =
the computer change over they did...but me being as stubborn as i am im =
still sending in a letter a month just to let them know im still =
alive....maybe 1 day they will get tired of me and replace the auto =
guider with anouther 1 or a dsi that will auto guide...

blank message

Folks,

I have been back and forth with Meade about =3De 16-inch LX200 GPS =
telescope I had damaged by lightning over the summer. I sent the scope =
back to Meade for repair. After getting it back, it still didn't work. =
However, the symptoms were different. I got an error message on the =
control paddle telling me that the computer could not communicate with =
the "sensor board". I called Meade and they, of course, wanted me to =
send the scope back yet again. I persuaded them to let me send in the =
circuit boards instead.

So, I sent them the control panel and the sensor board. I have =
received them back from Meade with a note that there is nothing wrong =
with the boards. Indeed, when I replaced them in the scope. . . same =
error message. I have checked the wiring between the sensor board and =
the main connection behind the control panel. I detect no discontinuity =
in any of the wires.

I tried a different Autostar paddle (from another one of the College's =
GPS telescopes where I work) to no avail. I am now thinking that =
perhaps the GPS sensor itself is the problem. Those of you who have =
worked with the GPS scopes know that the sensor is positioned in an =
obvious place at the top of the eastern fork arm. My question is how to =
get to the sensor itself. It is not obvious to meinside the cover to =
access the sensor.

If the sensor is easily removed, I could try a sensor from one of the =
other scopes and see if it corrects the problem. I am resisting sending =
back a three-piece, 400-lb telescope AGAIN, with all of the shipping =
logistics and expense, if a 4-ounce part is the problem.

Anyone ever get into the casing that houses the GPS sensor? If so, I =
would appreciate knowing how you did it.

Thanks for any and all help.
