While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Hi Mark,

I can't speak for all programs, but ScopeDriver (and I assume most
others) park the telescope based on the assumption that, on power-up,
the telescope "expects" to be pointing due south and at 0 degrees
declination.

Basically, parking the telescope sets your telescope to this position,
so that at the next power-up, the alignment *should* be fairly
accurate. Of course, this only works if your instrument is not moved
between parking and the next power-up.

Yes, you need to power down your LX200 after parking, or else the
instrument will track off of the park position (ScopeDriver gives you
the option of switching to Land mode to stop the tracking immediately
after parking).

It doesn't matter whether you leave the computer on or off after
parking.

'Hope that helps,

Steve
