While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Put another way...

To park an LX-200, first switch to LAND mode then slew to Alt=0, Az=0. Then you can power off (or not) as necessary.

To unpark, simply switch back to POLAR or ALTAZ mode.

Note that the latest version of the Meade ASCOM driver supports the SetPark() method, so the scope can be parked in any position using that driver. The proper coordinates are restored when the driver is reconnected.
