While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Greetings Mapuggers,

I am re-assembling my roll-off roof observatory at its new home in
southern Australia and want to make sure it will fit my 16" LX200 GPS
when it arrives later this year.

Can anyone tell me what height I should allow for the roll-off roof to
clear the 16-incher mounted on a Meade permanent equatorial pier, or,
point me to somewhere I can find it?

I have found from Meade specs that the 16" pier is 42" high, and the
scope is 18 x 32 x 51. Simple arithmetic says the total height is 93"
(7' 9"), but this seems very high and I reckon it might be less
considering the scope is at an angle on top of the pier.

Anyway, I would like to confirm what height I must have for the roof
frame to clear the parked telescope with its attached finder.

It would be truly tragic should I get everything set up and then find I
can't get the roof off!!!!

Cheers

Colin James
