While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I had a 12-inch SCT and I found the problem to be that the main driving gears..both RA and Dec...had accumulated dirt. When I cleaned it and relubed it, it worked fine. A lot depends where you store the telescope as well as where it is normally used.
