While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I took this picture

with my 8" f/10 with the f/6.3 reducer/flattener and a 416XT
camera. The JPEG file is a very small part of the complete
image; the ring nebua was a small feature on the image. In any
case, you can see the central star resolved from the ring. It
is faint, but clearly resolved. So I'd say that the 10"
does have the resolving power. However you may need that big
Dob to get it bright enough to see with your eye.
