Gregory Donahue,
Just a thought about your image problems. When using Pictorview 6.4 and
6.41 on my 416XT there is a similar pattern which could answer that
description in my display. When focusing with a short exposure the field
has a bright "herring bone" or crystal pattern instead of there being a
starimage with a black background. The star image is also very mushy.
If the signal is increased with a longer exposure or a brighter
image the pattern is not apparent. Images of the moon are normal for
example. It looks somewhat like an electrical interference pattern and it
took a while to find that it wasnt that or a camera problem. Talking to
Amy at Meade and sending them copies of the problem didnt turn up any
solutions.
Reinstalling 6.3 returned everything to normal. If you upgraded
to 6.4 from an earlier version before using your camera again it may
simply be a software problem and the camera will come back without
"being fixed" . It may of course be a problem with the seal.
Have only recently discovered MAPUG and am enjoying it very
much. Congratulations and thanks to all involved! If this problem has
been discussed before I would appreciate an archival reference. I have
evolved a work-around to be able to do focusing but it seems odd to me
that no one else would have experienced this with version 6.4. There may
be a simple configuration or setting solution. I am running Win 95 on a
PC using a Meade 12". Thanks in advance.
