While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I also had difficulty finding the sun once the solar filter was on. My
solution is to switch the flip mirror into the straight through
position, unscrew the rear cover and look straight through. You can
easily find and line up on the sun, flip the mirror back to the 90 deg.
position and observe through the eye piece.
