Hi,
I'm new to the list, so please forgive my ignorance. In
fact, it gets worse as I don't actually own a Meade
scope (yet).
I don't know if you are aware of the latest handheld
computers, running Microsoft's Windows CE and available
from manufacturers such as Philips, Casio and so on. I've
always wanted a planetarium program which I could bring
outside with me, so I wrote one for these systems called
"Pocket Universe". It's hardly state of the art, but
it does run on the smallest computers currently available.
It occurred to me that the Handheld and Palmsize PCs might
be useful for connecting to telescopes such as the Meade
for use with their own computer controlled "Goto" feature.
Now I don't even know if this would be useful or not, which
is why I'm writing here. I'm trying to incorporate support
for the serial link, and could do with some volunteers to
help test it: that is, if there is even a need for such
a program.
So if anyone is interested in helping, drop me a line.
Many thanks, and sorry to intrude.
John
