While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Chris,

I don"t have much experience with the derotator but so far I like it very
much. Of course as with most things there are pros and cons to it. They
have been discussed many times on this list.

Pro: Ease of setup.
Easy two star alignment
Stable Alt/Az setup

Con: Must use off-axis guider
Max Alt is about 60 degrees

I might add a word about the 60 degree problem. I have not run into this
problem so far but if I do I will just wait until the object in question
passes zenith and begin my exposure as it starts down.
