There are many benefits to using a larger aperture. First and most obvious
is the gain in resolution. **When the seeing is good** a larger scope will
give a much more detailed image. Try observing just a few hours after
dawn. Second, the exit pupil will be larger for any given magnification.
I find that exit pupils less than 1mm or so greatly worsen the effects of
floaters in my eyes; so much that it becomes difficult to tell the sunspots
from the eye spots :-(
