For those of you who still use LX200 in alt-az mode for visual:

Put a 16" pizza pie plate between your tripod and scope base. Experiment with the best place to put the 1/2" hole for the bolt.

The upcurved lip makes a great place to hang your keypad no matter what side of the scope you are on. The plate also provides a great tray (just the right size) for placing eyepieces, filters, small flashlights, etc. They can't roll off because of the lip.
