Firstly, an observation I have been meaning to post:
I have had no problem using POLARIS as an alignment star in Alt-Az mode.. I
HAVE had seriously problems using anything near the Zenith. Can anyone
refute/support this?
Secondly... another vote for the large scope...someone asked about a 10" or
larger in light polluted skies. Astronomics is passing out poor advice. Larger
scopes work better in light polluted skies when properly filtered. A UHC/OIII
in an urban environment will do wonders with larger instruments.
btw.. off topic..we are up to 30" of snow on the ground here in Boston, new
record (three successive 12"+ storms, yesterday 18") An LX200 on wheels would
not have worked. . in fact, the snow is almost deep enough to get up to the
control panel if I were to place the scope out on the back lawn!
