Hi,
I understand some action by all of us is required. However, weather conditions here were very bad over the last couple of weeks.
It may be interesting to know that I have an 8" LX200 that is permanently mounted (see CCD Astronomy fall 1994 - Letters to the Editor). I never succeeded in aligning onto Regulus (which is the name of my observatory, by the way). The errors are between 10' and 40', way higher than what I use to see (below 10').
My contribution is to follow Luc Vanhoeck

Hey, LXers! Either no one is observing, or this is a dead topic, since I've received no returns of alignment reports from you-all yet. Below is a pretty crappy one I did (in a half-awake state, apparently) this morning. The awful alignment on Mars after SYNCing on nearby Regulus suggests that the SYNC function may not engage under the "unknown site" alignment condition. OTOH, maybe my 'scope is malfunctioning, or something. This will need further testing, or clarification by Meade; there's nothing about the SYNC function in the user manual, as far as I can tell, except in the permanently mounted polar config- uration.
